Turn on SNMP on your Q-SYS Core

With SNMP turned on, Xyte can read your Q-SYS Core's inventory, including the peripherals in its design (microphones, cameras, amplifiers and more) and their status. Without it, Xyte shows basic status only.

SNMP is off by default on new or factory-reset Q-SYS Cores. Turning it on takes about 2 minutes.

On the Core

  1. Open Core Manager: in a web browser go to the Core's IP address, or in Q-SYS Designer (connected to the running design) choose Tools > Show Core Manager. If your Cores are registered in Q-SYS Reflect, you can also open Core Manager remotely from Reflect. Sign in if Access Control is enabled. You can ignore a certificate warning; Core Manager uses a self-signed certificate.
  2. Go to Network > SNMP and click Edit.
  3. Under Version 2C, set Access to Read Only.
  4. In Community, enter public.
  5. Click Save.
📘

Why public

Xyte reads Q-SYS Cores with the SNMP v2c community string public, and there is no field to change it in Xyte. Read Only access lets Xyte read the Core without being able to change anything on it.

In Xyte

There is nothing to enter. The Q-SYS Core model takes no parameters (see User Parameters, under QSYS). After SNMP is on, the Core's details and peripherals should appear on the device page within a few polling cycles.

If they don't show up after an hour, check that the Xyte Edge can reach the Core on UDP port 161, then contact support.
