MTR Cloud Integration Alternatives in Xyte
Microsoft has deprecated the direct Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) cloud-to-cloud integration. See the official deprecation announcement for details. The goal of this article is to provide alternatives to direct MTR cloud-to-cloud monitoring by using vendor Cloud Connectors, Edge full driver where supported, or Edge Heartbeat as a fallback.
Overview
Most MTR-certified devices are managed by a vendor cloud (Crestron XiO, Logitech Sync, Poly Lens, Neat Pulse, Cisco Control Hub, etc.). The recommended approach is to connect that vendor cloud to Xyte via a Cloud Connector, which gives you rich device data without relying on the MTR API.
Where no Cloud Connector exists, Xyte's Edge can provide either full driver support (rich telemetry) or Heartbeat (online/offline) depending on the device model.
Monitoring methods
Cloud Connector — Xyte connects to the vendor's cloud platform to sync device inventory and status. Configure under Connections > Cloud Connectors.
Edge — full driver — Xyte Edge connects to supported device models on the local network for rich telemetry. Referred to as Standard monitoring in the table below. Note that not all models from a vendor are supported — check the Supported Devices list to confirm your specific model before deploying.
Edge — Heartbeat — Available for any pingable device. Provides online/offline reachability. Referred to as Heartbeat monitoring in the table below.

Decision guide
- Is there an available Cloud Connector for the vendor cloud? > Use Connections > Cloud Connectors.
- No Cloud Connector, but device model is on the Edge full driver list? > Deploy Edge for rich telemetry.
- Neither Cloud Connector nor Edge full driver? > Use Edge Heartbeat for baseline online/offline.
For compute-based Windows kits (Lenovo, Dell, HP), it's usually better to monitor the vendor ecosystem (Sync / Lens / XiO) rather than the Windows compute itself.
