Why use the Edge

The Connect+ Edge allows to monitor any device on a local network that supports local management, via HTTP APIs, SNMP or other supported protocols.

Using the Connect+ Edge allows access and control of devices that do not have a native Management Cloud or who's Managment Cloud offers limited data and control functionality.

What is the Edge

The Connect+ Edge is a software package that can run on any Linux / Mac machine or on any machine capable of running a virtualized Linux container. The Connect+ Edge comes by default as a Docker Container and can be easily and securely installed via a simple shell script.

Where to set up an Edge

Plan on one Edge per physically separate site, on a machine that can reach every device at that site by IP address. Isolated room or AV networks do not each need their own Edge — see Networking for how one Edge covers several networks.

What is the Secure Edge

For customer that do not have server infrastructure or prefer not to manage servers, the Secure Edge is a pre-configured physical product sold by Xyte that "just works".
