How Surge Suppressors Work

Surge suppressors function by detecting excess voltage in the power supply and diverting it safely to the ground before it reaches the connected equipment. Most suppressors use components like Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs), which absorb and dissipate the excess energy. When a voltage surge occurs, the MOV reacts instantly to regulate the current flow, preventing damage to your electronics. Once the surge subsides, the suppressor returns to normal operation, maintaining a steady power supply to devices.
